WHAT ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

  • Eyelash extensions are a weight-less, a semi-permanent enhancement shaped like a single eyelash.  The extensions are available in a variety of widths, lengths, and curls (and colors).  We use Faux Mink extensions, which are weightless flat lashes.  They are tapered (larger at the base and extend to a pointy tip).  

  • Each individual fiber (or sprig of volume) is adhered to a single, natural lash. Because the extensions are attached to a single lash, you will be able to comb through them.  This also allows each natural lash to grow on its own cycle, without pain, pulling, or pinching.

  • Our experienced, professional lash stylists will choose a variety of extensions to design a formula especially for you, showcasing a flattering and naturally beautiful look according to your eye shape and eyebrow arch placement.

WILL THEY DAMAGE MY NATURAL EYELASHES?

  • No! Eyelash extensions, should not damage your natural lash line if applied correctly by a trained and licensed tech in your state. We choose the right length, weight, and curl for you!  At A Symmetric Beauty, we care about the health of your natural lash and will NEVER apply a long or heavy extensions that will damage your natural lashes.

AM I A CANDIDATE FOR EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

Eyelash extensions are a wonderful addition to your beauty routine.  We are primarily concerned for the health of your natural lashes and want to be certain you meet the following criteria:

  • Your eyes are free of any signs or symptoms of infection;

  • Your eyes have fully recovered from recent eye surgeries or procedures;

  • You are comfortable lying down up to 2 hours

Considering the items above, there may be some candidates, who experience the following factors which may not be candidates for eyelash extension services:

  • Those who rub their eyes frequently –if this is from allergies or out of habit;

  • Those who have highly sensitive skin – This service may cause more reactions in certain candidates;

  • If you are ill or currently have allergies – if you have a cold, sinus infection, bronchitis, or flu, etc. please stay home and get well. No worries, we can reschedule your appointment for a time when you are feeling well.

  • If you don’t have healthy natural eyelashes – our extensions are placed on a natural lash; and we need your natural lash to be healthy and strong enough to support an extension. Unlike using other lash processes such as a strip or flares, we cannot create lashes where there aren’t any.

  • If you have an allergy to cyanoacrylate. What is cyanoacrylate? Well, if back in the day you used to have acrylic nails and developed an allergy, it is likely it was from cyanoacrylate. (No latex is used at anytime anywhere in the salon ever!)

HOW LONG DO THEY LAST?

We generally lose between 3-5 natural lashes a day, you will become more aware of how many you are shedding while wearing extensions.  Don’t worry – it’s all part of the natural process our bodies go through on a regular basis.

       Range of Retention based on 100 lashes per eye: 

       2 weeks average retention range:  60-100 lashes per eye

       3 weeks average retention range:  40-59 lashes per eye

       4 weeks average retention range:  20-39 lashes per eye

  • Most clients, depending on their natural growth cycle, preferring a fuller lash line, schedule their appointments every 2- 3 weeks for a fill.

  • Much of how long they last depends on how you care for them at home.  This includes eye-make-up choices, cleansers, exposure, etc.

  • For our lash clients: 
    Please be sure to arrive without any eye make-up, and your lashes freshly cleansed.  No mascara 24 hours prior to your appointment.  

  • It is also a good idea to avoid caffeine or any type of stimulants 5 hours prior to your appointment - due to involuntary eye movements - which will make the appointment more challenging.  
     

Our goal is to have your lashes look FULL and BEAUTIFUL!

We strive to have our appointment end with you receiving full coverage within our appointment time. However, we may experience more shedding some times than others. If you have,

  • Less than 19 lashes per eye, please allow us time to apply a full set. If your results are slightly lower, and if we have time, we will offer you more time for a fee.  Please know, during your scheduled appointment time, we strive to restore your lashes to our goal of 100 extensions per eye.  If you’ve noticed you are in need of extra TLC, please text us ahead of time so we can try to accommodate an extended appointment.  If we have it, we will give it to you!  

 Possible factors could be:

  • Travel (Airlines are notorious for dry air – which could dry out our bond)

  • New Medications  (The chemistry in our bodies change, and could cause our hair to change too)

  • Excessive Exercise/perspiration

  • Hormones/Monthly Cycle

  • General seasonal shedding.  Happens 2-3 times/year.  Typically lasts about 4-6 weeks.

  • General cleaning.  Wash daily with lash cleanser and brush provided by your salon

ARE THEY WATERPROOF?

  • Yes!  You can shower and swim in them after the curing process - which is 12  hours.  You must avoid moisture/getting them wet for the first 12 hours.  

  • Wash after tears, swimming, and beach activity

  • What happens if I get them wet before 24 hours?   The adhesive will "bloom".  It will triple in size and turn a grey-ish color. You will have premature shedding.

WHAT IS THE APPLICATION PROCEDURE LIKE?

FREE NAPS! The procedure is quite tranquil.   It is painless, gentle and relaxing.  Many of our clients enjoy soft conversations or drift off to sleep.  Whether it is your first visit or fill in, the procedure will always be the same.

  • When you lay back, we will make sure your neck and back are comfortable, with your chin up toward the Lash Stylist.  This will help “open the angle” of the lash line for maximum lash application.  We will them apply your eye pads, which will isolate your lower lashes from your upper lashes.

  • At your touch-up appointments, we will COUNT EACH USABLE LASH and remove any lashes that are outgrown or pointing in the wrong direction.  **As your natural lashes grow out of the follicle, they naturally twist and turn.  This is a very natural occurrence, but could cause your extension to appear catawampus.  No worries, we’ll instruct you on how to handle that one rogue lash.

  • We then will balance your lashes on both eyes and then replenish your extensions.  We adhere the extensions by using our specially formulated medical-grade, low-fume adhesive, which attaches to your lash hair only, never to your skin. We are careful not to leave chunks of adhesive in your lash line.  We strive to NOT GLUE MORE THAN ONE NATURAL LASH TO ONE EXTENSION OR SPRIG OF VOLUME EXTENSIONS.  Our goal is to design a flattering, natural enhancement for your eye shape while being mindful of your eyebrows, hooded eyelids, eye shape, and your overall desired look.  

  • Keep in mind, we loose more extensions on one eye due to the way we sleep, or naturally loosing more lashes on one eye versus the other.  Typical lash loss is 3-5 a day!

  • After your allotted time, you will open your eyes to your fabulous, flattering eyelash extensions.

HOW MANY EXTENSIONS ARE APPLIED FOR EACH APPLICATION?

  • This depends on how many natural lashes you have on each eye, and varies from eye to eye. Though we do not count how many extensions we apply per eye, if we were to take a guess, we estimate on average between 90-120 lash extensions per eye.  Please keep in mind, everyone’s lashes are different - sometimes clients have baby-fine hair; or coarser hair – sometimes it’s straight or curly - either way, we take time to meticulously isolate each individual healthy eyelash hair for one extension.  By this process, we feel scheduling our appointments by time serves our clients best.
     

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

  • Please arrive with your eyes free of any eye makeup

  • Avoid caffeine and any stimulants.  Your eyes involuntarily move and stimulants will increase this action.  For our service, it is crucial we have a steady surface to work with to give you a quality result.

  • Be prepared to relax, lay still, and enjoy your experience. PLAY DEAD! J/K

  • Please be aware that Consultations (Test Patch) appointments will not be scheduled on the same day as your full service.  We must wait 24 hours prior to applying your full set.  This is for your safety.  If you have an allergy to our products, we would rather your reaction is isolated to a small area on the outside of your eyelid rather than your entire eyelid swelling shut. 

  • For your safety no other guests! We strive to keep a relaxed and safe environment for all our clients.  Our artists are working in detailed, finite spaces which requires extreme precision; a great amount of concentration while using very sharp tools.  A child resting on you - moving you - or distracting you in any way inhibits or our artists from giving you the highest quality service.  Kindly find a sitter during your appointment times.

  • Silence your cell phone. We want to create a relaxed environment where you can take a nap and unwind for an hour or so.  

HOW LONG IS MY APPOINTMENT?

  • Appointment times depend on your service,  and the number of days you are away from your most recent eyelash appointment.  

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

Your new eyelash extensions are fairly maintenance free.  The general rule of eyelash extensions is “The cleaner they are, the longer they last”.  The largest enemy of lash loss is oil and dirt.  Oil can come from our fingers or from the products we apply, while dirt and debris get trapped by daily activity.

  •   Avoiding direct contact with oils will help maintain longevity of your lash extensions.  

  • After each appointment, avoid moisture, steam and eye make-up for 12 hours.  This means: avoiding exercise, steam from a shower, sauna, raindrops, or tears from an emotional movie.

  • After 12 hours: Always use an oil-free eye make-up remover.

  • Every morning/evening: Cleanse your lashes with a oil free lash cleanser and lash cleansing brush. (sold online or in studio)

 A towel or a q-tip may get caught in the bond and cause irritation to your eye. There is a chance dead skin, debris, or make-up may accumulate in this small space and cause damage to your natural lash. 

  • Avoid any long-wearing, waterproof eyeliners and mascaras. 

  • Schedule timely perfection session (fill-in) appointments with your stylist to maintain your beautiful extensions.  Everyone loses their hair at different rates; typically our clients schedule their appointments every two weeks to avoid any large gaps in their lash line.

  •  Do not use oil-based products over your eyelash extensions!  Ask them to kindly place lint-free eye pads over your eyes when performing their steam and facial massage services.

  • Avoid intense heat (yes, possibly a hair dryer) and steam.  This goes for our bronze tanning bed beauties: be sure to wear eye protection while in the tanning booth.  Your extensions are delicate and if under enough heat or steam may prematurely shed.

  • Do not use an eyelash curler on your extensions – you will break the adhesive bond and your beautiful, new extensions will not hold!

I WEAR CLUSTERS/INDIVIDUALS/FLARES OR STRIPS, WILL THEY LOOK LIKE THAT?

  • The short answer is: “No”.

  •  Unfortunately, long-term use of these products usually contributes to damage and to your natural lashes due to the weight, adhesive process, and removal process of these types of artificial applications.

  • Cheaper is not better when it comes to the health of your lashes!

  • If you are accustomed to wearing clusters/individuals/flares or strips, please schedule a consultation; we’d love to help you keep your natural lashes as healthy as possible.

I HAVE A SPECIAL OCCASION, WHEN SHOULD I GET MY LASHES APPLIED?

  • We suggest your initial set should be applied at least 2-3 weeks prior to your event, with a perfection session (fill-in) scheduled 2-3 days prior to your event.   By planning your appointment in advance, we will be able to accommodate any adjustments to the appearance of your lashes; including curl, length, volume or shape.

I'M CURRENTLY WEARING ANOTHER SALON'S LASHES, MAY I SCHEDULE A FILL-IN WITH YOU?

  • We prefer to work with a fresh, clean set of eyelashes.  There is an option for a refill from another artist at an additional fee, but since there are many interpretations of eyelash extension applications, we cannot account for another salon's products and techniques. 

  • If your current eyelash extensions are from another salon and/or you are well past the 5-week mark, we will require you to receive a Full Set appointment.  By giving your lashes a fresh start, we can monitor your progress and get your lashes back on the road to recovery.

SCHEDULING APPOINTMENTS

  • Our appointments are scheduled by time, though we strive to achieve full coverage per eye for our standard sets and touch-ups   Your appointment is your time and our opportunity to create an artistic, full look for your lashes.

  • Being on time to your appointment with your eye-makeup removed

  • Initial visits are scheduled with a consultation.  Consultations are prior to your appointment, please arrive 10 minutes early.

  • A $25 deposit will be required to secure your first full service,  the deposit will be applied to your full service or a credit toward product.  

  • In most cases, if a client arrives late we cannot add additional time to their appointment.  However, if there is an opportunity to do so, the Lash Stylist will offer it in 15 minute increments for an additional fee. 

  • IF YOU ARE FEELING SICK:  Please let us know as soon as you think you cannot make it.  Do not come into the salon!  We will reschedule our appointment - first time rescheduling will not be charged a fee.  We will extend you the same courtesy if we are feeling under the weather.  

THE ONLINE SCHEDULE DOESN’T HAVE ANY OPENINGS ON THE DAY I’M AVAILABLE, IS THERE AN OPENING?

  • Our online schedule reflects our available appointment times.  If you do not see an opening for a particular time, day, or month; it is because we are booked.  We encourage you to call 24 hours prior or same day for any cancellations

  • Outside availability is open for an additional fee of $20 by request

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION/RESCHEDULING POLICY?

  • We understand last-minute emergencies pop-up.  We'd love for you to keep your appointment; and not have to pay for lash extensions you are unable to wear.  However, if you are unable to make your scheduled appointment, please contact us as soon as possible to reschedule.                    Any appointments cancelled less than 24 hours from appointment time will be charged a $25 fee.  All no shows, will be charged 100% of the appointment fee.  We reserve the right to discontinue scheduling appointments with clients who no show 2 times, or continuously cancel with less than 24 hours notice.

HOW IS THE CANCELLATION FEE APPLIED?

  • Fee should be paid by end of business day on the day of reschedule or cancellation. New appointment will not be made until fee is paid.

  • DO I GIVE GRATUITY?

  • Eyelash extensions are a personalized beauty service and a luxury service, therefore gratuities are given at your discretion and not included in your service fee. MISCELLANEOUS

  • *Please note that we reserve the right to discontinue service to any client we find to be unable to fit the standards of our Rescheduling Policy or any client who is unable to keep their lashes at a level of cleanliness that is proper for this service.  Our relationship may be terminated at anytime.  We want your experience with us to be pleasant.  If for any reason we feel differently or if it is time for us to part - no hard feelings.  We wish you the best and are grateful for our time together.
